Providenciales is the most developed island in
the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British Overseas Territory.
These islands are geographically part of the Bahamas chain, but are a separate
country, located 575 miles southeast of Miami. See
Where We're Located for more information.
Columbus discovered the islands in 1492, with control being passed from
Spain, France and then to Britain. Until the 1950's, salt was the
major industry. Now, fishing, tourism and financial services
support the country. See Turks and Caicos History.
Along with having one of the ten best beaches in the world (Conte Nast
Traveler), Providenciales also has world-class
diving,
fishing, and
golf. Check out our
10 Reasons to Visit.
Getting here is easy.
We have direct flights from 13 cities (New York, Charlotte, Miami,
Toronto, London and more), and you probably don't need a
visa to enter Turks and Caicos.
