Most visitors to Providenciales will need to connect through the US,
commonly Miami. British Airways operates the only trans-atlantic flight,
a Sunday flight from London Heathrow.
Visitors to the Providenciales will find it difficult to travel around
the Caribbean to other countries, as regional flights are overpriced and
infrequent.
The Turks and Caicos Government's runway expansion project, expected to
be completed in late 2011/early 2012, is expected to result in many more
international carriers flying to the Turks and Caicos Islands. Right now
the shorter runway is not long enough for larger transatlantic planes to
takeoff with full fuel capacity. The Sunday BA flight has a 1 hour
layover in Nassau to re-fuel to full capacity.
